On June 23-27, 2018 in Skopje, ABA ROLI organized a Training of Advocate Trainers for a total of 44 lawyers from Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The training was part of the Curriculum Development Program for Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).
Training experts Barbara Barron, Hofstra University Professor, and William Hunt, a Boston-based lawyer, worked with the participants on developing course curriculum on CPC on five modules (Pre-trial, Evidentiary issues, Indictment, Trial and Post-conviction). The aim of the Training was to empower advocate/trainers to develop curriculum and use adult learning methodologies to create dynamic, interactive continuing legal education courses for advocates in their member bars, both in live and online formats and learn the techniques in writing written advocacy materials for practice. After the completion of the Training each participant gained a certificate and committed to do at least one live course in their home-country and develop written materials to be included in the CPC handbook.
The participants also used the opportunity to connect with their fellow advocates from the region, exchange experiences and develop future potential partnerships.
