On January 15, 2016, USAID’s Balkans Regional Rule of Law Network (BRRLN) project introduced a new e-learning platform, available on www.brrln.org. The platform consists of a series of on-line presentations and lectures for legal professionals living in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Serbia.
The offerings include regional courses (available in all Macedonian, Albanian, and Serbian languages) as well as courses unique to each country, and cover topics related to the protection of human rights in criminal proceedings, the application of the European Convention for Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the European Court of Human Rights, and Criminal Procedure Codes. The platform is free of charge and available to all interested legal professionals at any time and from any place.
In their opening remarks, Nikola Dodevski, President of the Macedonia Bar Association, Ms. Elizabeth Givens, BRRLN program director and Ms. Alexandra Belenkaya, ABA ROLI Director for Europe and Euroasia stressed the importance of continued legal education throughout the region.
In addition, the Sterring Committee of the Network had a meeting where they disscused the future of the network and its formal registration.
